SPICED HOT COCOA
This cocoa mixed with spices like cloves and cinnamon make this the perfect cozy hot cocoa winter drink. You can make this drink in a variety of ways! From using regular milk to almond milk to even coconut milk. The possibilities are endless. Top this off with your favorite toppings and have yourself a merry drink!
SERVES 2
INGREDIENTS
2 Cups of milk
[you can use any non-dairy milk of choice]
2 Cinnamon sticks
1 Teaspoon of whole cloves
3 Tablespoons of cocoa powder
[unsweetened preferably]
2 Tablespoons of granulated sugar
[sugar-free alternatives like Monkruit sweetener, swerve and allulose are good as well]
½ Teaspoon of vanilla extract
Toppings
Mini marshmallows
Whipped cream
Cinnamon sticks
Chocolate shavings
Cocoa powder
PREPARATION
Place milk, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves and cocoa powder into a small saucepan, and heat over a medium low heat for 2-3 minutes, make sure you keep stirring while making the hot mix.
Turn down your heat to low and add in your granulated sugar and vanilla extract and stir until dissolved, this should take another 2 minutes or so.
Once the hot cocoa is done you can either strain it to remove the spices or ladle the hot cocoa mix into your serving cups.
Top it off with your choice of toppings and serve!
Make it a hot chocolate –
Add in ¼ cup of chocolate chips or ¼ cup of torn up pieces of milk or dark chocolate.
