EGG SANDWICH AT HOME


How to make an easy egg sandwich at home. You only need four main ingredients and one pan! This quick breakfast sandwich packs a punch of flavor. You can pick and choose your favorite cheese, cured meats or deli ham. We want big bold flavors that the cheese, cured meat and egg bring to this sandwich.

SERVES 2



INGREDIENTS 


2 Everything bagels, sliced [see notes, options]

1 Teaspoon of olive oil or neutral oil [cooking]

1 Teaspoon of mayonnaise

½ Teaspoon of butter   

2 Large eggs

Salt

Black pepper

3 Thick slices of Vermont cheddar cheese, Colby or pepper jack cheese [see notes, options]

6 Peppered salame rounds [see notes, options] 


NOTES

CURED MEATS - Choice your favorite cured meat, remember bold flavors! Recommendations that I’ve used before 4 prosciutto slices, 4 Canadian bacon rounds or 4 slices of deli ham. You can even mix and match.

 CHEESE - Choice your favorite deli cheese, keep in mind that the cheese has to melt.

 BREAD – You can use any type of bagel, multigrain sandwich slices or any bread you’d like.



PREPARATION

- Start slicing your bagels in half and smear the tops of your bagels with butter and mayonnaise. Set aside for later use. This will be a game changer, the flavor and crispness once’s it hits that heat will be delicious!

 - In a small frying pan or 10-inch skillet pour in your one teaspoon of oil and set your stovetop to a medium heat. Once the pan gets hot, carefully crack in each egg and season with salt and black pepper. 

 - Let the eggs sizzle for 30-60 second and then add your lid or a piece of foil paper to cover the pan, let it cook for a minute. 

 - Take off the lid or foil paper and start by adding the top of your eggs with your slices of cheese and finally your salame or deli style meat of choice. Place the lid or foil paper back onto the pan and let it cook for another minute or until the cheese starts melting on the sides.

 - Meanwhile toast your bread in the toaster oven or regular toaster.

[how crispy do you want your bread? I prefer mine to be a medium crisp “toaster level 3”]

 - Turn off your stovetop and with a spatula carefully place your egg combo onto a cutting board or plate and slice right in the middle to make a portion of two. [see video]

 - Top your toasted bagel slices with your egg, cheese and salame portion and add your bagel tops to make it sandwich!

 - Slice the sandwich in the middle or diagonally. Serve and enjoy!
