Spiced Apples With Vanilla Cream
Serves 4 Sweets- Ingredients
- 6 Medium apples {skin on, cored & sliced thick}
- 2 Teaspoon of lemon juice
- 1 Cup of roasted nuts {chopped}
- ¼ Cup of light brown sugar
- ¼ Cup of water
- 2 Teaspoons of honey
- 1 Teaspoon of cinnamon
- ¼ Teaspoon of cardamom
- 1 Pinch of salt
- 2 Teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 8oz Sour cream
- Preparation
In a medium saucepan add in the water, light brown sugar, lemon juice and apples. Stir for five minutes and let it come to a high simmer. Add in the cinnamon, cardamom, and a small pinch of salt; stir together and place it to the side. In a medium cold bowl add in the sour cream, honey, and vanilla. Whisk the mix until you see a smooth consistency. Pour the cream mixture into the bottom of each glass or bowl and add on top the cooked apples. Sprinkle the nuts on top and serve!
Tip- If pre-cutting apples and leaving aside for later use add in a squeeze of lemon or lime juice so they don’t brown.
Tip- You can make this a healthy trifle, or a low-fat dessert simply by substituting to reduced fat sour-cream or greek yogurt. You can also substitute the sugar for fine coconut sugar.
