Marinara Sauce

Ingredients

2 Pounds of large tomatoes {quartered}

3 Garlic cloves {peeled}

1 Small spanish onion {peeled & quartered}

¼ Cup of Italian parsley

2 Tablespoons of ketchup

1 ¼ Teaspoon of salt

¾ Teaspoon of black pepper {optional}

½ Teaspoon of oregano {dried}

Preparation

Place the tomatoes, garlic, onions and parsley into a blender and puree until smooth. Pour the sauce onto a large saucepan and simmer it for 25 minutes at a medium-low heat. Once simmered add in the ketchup, salt, black pepper and oregano. Stir and let it simmer for another 5 minutes. Serve with your choice of pasta, seafood or chicken.

 

Tip- If you want to preserve the sauce, let it cool down completely and store it in an airtight container or zip-lock bag.

Tip- You can freeze the tomato sauce for 2 months.

Tip- The sauce can be made 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
